Oprah responded to Donald Trumps 'hate-tweet' where he called her 'very insecure'

“I don’t like giving negativity power.”

EARLIER THIS WEEK, Donald Trump watched Oprah Winfrey interview some of his supporters on US TV show 60 Minutes.

The President was not impressed and, as always, he took to Twitter to let everybody know. He called Oprah Winfrey ‘very insecure’ and said that her questions were ‘biased and slanted’.

When Oprah made an appearance on Ellen this week, host Ellen DeGeneres was eager to discuss the tweet. Ellen asked “What was that like, for you to find out about that?”

This is pretty much how she felt:

I don’t like giving negativity power, so I just thought… What?

She admitted that she did look over the tape of 60 Minutes, to see if there’s any way that it could possibly be argued that she was biased.

I went back and looked at the tape to see if there was any place in which that could be true. I went back and looked at every tape, I called the producer.

Oprah then explained that every episode of the show is reviewed by a panel of around seven people who critique the questions to make sure they’re fair.

However, Ellen still thought she needed to defend Oprah and insisted that Trump went ‘too far’ with his tweet.

She began by saying:

George Washington was the father of our country and he was famous for saying that he could not tell a lie.
I looked up George Washington, he’s got so many wonderful quotes. Here’s one that I wanna share with you today. “Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody is going to know whether you did it or not.” Isn’t that amazing?

When the crowd broke into applause, Ellen revealed that this was actually an Oprah quote, before introducing Oprah to the audience.

Something happened over the weekend that got my attention. As you know, our current president spends a lot of time tweeting – as our forefathers really intended.

She read out Donald Trump’s tweet about Oprah before saying “Oh no you didn’t.”

He’s gone too far. Oprah is my friend and when you mess with Oprah, you mess with me.

She used Oprah’s Golden Globes speech as evidence that Oprah is not insecure, and compared it to footage of Trump defending his small hands.
